From smoke-filled temples honoring the gods to Marilyn Monroe’s five drops of Chanel No. 5, perfume has been used as sacred object, adornment, medicine, and even poison. Join perfume historian and perfumer Jen Siems of Immortal Perfumes for an immersive journey across thousands of years of scent history. 

You’ll explore the fragrances of Marie Antoinette, George Washington, Princess Diana, and even the passengers on the Titanic—then smell along the way as Jen brings each era to life through historically inspired perfumes. 

Jen is the perfumer behind Immortal Perfumes, a micro-perfumery specializing in scents based on historical figures and lore. Her creations have been featured in New York Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, and Seattle Met, and she shares her research with a devoted audience on TikTok (@immortalperfumes).

Join us for our monthly trivia night Downstairs at a/stir! How is this trivia different than every other trivia night, you ask? Well, over the two hour event, there will definitely be questions on random facts - ranging from pop culture to sportsball to music and movies to history to geography – but all with an added twist. 

Borrowing mechanics from classic and modern game shows and board games, we ramp up the fun by twisting each category into something new. Examples include: pushing your luck by earning double points on the categories in which you’re most confident; using real time polling, guess not the right answer but the answer that most people in the room think is correct. The twists will be different each time. We also rely heavily on audio and video clues to make the experience fun and engaging for everyone – even those that don’t like trivia. Interested? Gather your team of up to six players and compete for bragging rights!

Every second Tuesday of the month, we get together downstairs at a/stir to read original works of art, whether it is an essay, short story, poem or comedy routine. Just bring your stuff, or just listen. 

Don't worry, our resident writer, former service lead, Jen will start the proceedings to warm you up. 

7-9pm. All ages. No cover. 

Pitch a Friend, over 40 edition.... Gay, lesbian or straight real adults (over 40 years of age) get pitched. About damn time.

Whether you're pitching a friend or just here to mingle, this event is all about meeting amazing singles and having a fantastic time. 🎤 Want to pitch your friend? Sign up in advance. Pitch spots are limited. Prepare a quick, light-hearted presentation about: -What makes your friend awesome -What they're looking for in a partner Presenters get a complimentary drink at the event! 💬 Just want to attend and mingle?
