Join us for our monthly trivia night Downstairs at a/stir! How is this trivia different than every other trivia night, you ask? Well, over the two hour event, there will definitely be questions on random facts - ranging from pop culture to sportsball to music and movies to history to geography – but all with an added twist. 

Borrowing mechanics from classic and modern game shows and board games, we ramp up the fun by twisting each category into something new. Examples include: pushing your luck by earning double points on the categories in which you’re most confident; using real time polling, guess not the right answer but the answer that most people in the room think is correct. The twists will be different each time. We also rely heavily on audio and video clues to make the experience fun and engaging for everyone – even those that don’t like trivia. Interested? Gather your team of up to six players and compete for bragging rights!

21+. Free to attend/participate.

Every second Tuesday of the month, we get together downstairs at a/stir to read original works of art, whether it is an essay, short story, poem or comedy routine. Just bring your stuff, or just listen. 

Don't worry, our resident writer, former service lead, Jen will start the proceedings to warm you up. 

7-9pm. All ages. No cover. 

Private Event

7 courses, each paired to local legendary winemaker Tim Narby’s wines, exclusive 

to a small number of people. Tim and Carol (the real brains behind the operation)

Wish you could just show up to a bar and know that everyone there is open to meeting new people (and if they're single or not)? Every week, we pick a time and a place to take over a bar to do just that - create an open space to meet new friends and lovers. It's totally free to join. We tell you the time and place and you simply show up and join the party.

Welcome to Capitol Hill's Silent Book Club! We meet twice a month at a different restaurant or coffee shop around Capitol Hill to show support to our wonderful community!

We aren't your typical book club.

There is no assigned reading and you're welcome to use any medium to enjoy your story (i.e. paperback, audiobook, kindle, etc.). This is a judgement free zone. If you're into fiction, non-fiction, or graphic novels, bring whatever you enjoy!

Our mission is to create a welcoming environment for a diverse group to share their love of books while supporting local businesses in the process. Whether you're a bookworm or just looking for a relaxing night out, this event is perfect for anyone who wants to be a part of our bookish community.

How it works:

6:30 PM - Get settled, order food/drinks, meet fellow book lovers

7:00 PM - Read whatever book you like in your preferred platform

8:00 PM - Socialize, keep reading, or pay your bill and enjoy the rest of your night

8:30 PM - The night concludes
